Photographic Art Gallery Wrapped Canvases Added to EDCCollective Etsy Shop

I have listed many of my photographic art note cards, bookmarks, matted prints and more in both of my Etsy shops, EDCCollective and EclecticSkeptic, for quite some time. However, until last week I had never listed any of my ready to hang pieces of photographic art in either Etsy shop. I have only sold my gallery wrapped canvases, prints on metal and acrylic, or matted and framed photographic art in person at shows or on consignment in brick and mortar locations. The larger size and higher price points made me hesitate. I decided to go ahead and give it a try last week and utilize the variations option in a listing to give customers a choice from five different images. (There are five listing photos, so this seemed like the appropriate number of options to offer.)

I chose gallery wrapped canvases for my first listing of ready to hang photographic art pieces on Etsy. They are lightweight and I believe they will be easier and less expensive to pack and ship than the other types of ready to hang pieces that I carry.

I do not have the printer needed to print on canvas at home so I have these images printed for me. This means that I had to get manufacturing assistance approval from Etsy just like I did on my boxed card sets that I started offering last year. I inspect each canvas and add a wire for hanging before listing an image in my EDCCollective shop. I do have more than five images that have been printed to canvas over the past few years. A couple of those are in stock too and the others may be able to be reprinted if you are interested in them. All of my potentially available ready to hang photographic art pieces can be seen in my facebook photo album. I would be happy to make a custom listing on Etsy for you if you see one that you want (canvas, metal, etc.) that is not listed, if it is available or is capable of being reprinted.

Out and About – Marmot Photographic Art

I always enjoy it when a customer sends in a photo of themselves wearing one of my creations or showing a photographic art piece off in its new surroundings. Even better is running into one of your creations in person after it has found a new home.

I had the pleasure of seeing a gallery wrapped photographic art print of mine, a marmot titled "Food?", when my husband and I visited the BRIT earlier this year. While we were taking a tour of the facility, one of the researchers asked if I would like to see what a co-worker had done to the marmot he had purchased from me for his office. While I wasn't sure what to think about something being done to my artwork, I said we would love to come up after we were finished with the tour. I needn't have worried about what had been done to my artwork though, I totally loved it. It was fun, creative and didn't actually involve any alterations to the print itself. I can't wait to see what fun thing the marmot does next.

Speaking of fun, I have found the people who work and volunteer at the BRIT to be very passionate about what they do and have a lot of fun doing it. Whether you have young or old kids or an empty nest, I strongly suggest if you are in the area that you head over to the BRIT for their upcoming Prairie Day, a celebration of native landscapes of North Texas. This year the BRIT's Prairie Day with be Saturday, May 16 from 9am – 1pm. You can see birds of prey, listen to live music, make craft projects and go on guided prairie walks to name a few of the fun activities waiting for you. Eclectic Design Choices at the BRIT's Artisan Market

This Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. I will have my photographic art items and feather jewelry & accessories at the First Annual BRIT (Botanical Research Institute of Texas) Artisan Market. You will be able to view most of my ready to hang photographic art creations. I'll have a selection of matted and framed prints, gallery wrapped canvas prints and prints on metal or acrylic. In addition, my matted prints, trinket dishes, note cards, purse hangers, CD clocks and bookmarks will be there too. My feather creations include hair accessories, pendants and earrings.

BRIT will be hosting additional talented artisans selling a variety of hand-crafted items including jewelry, wood housewares, hand embroidered textiles from Mexico and Honduras, photographic art, ceramics, hand-dyed accessories, all natural bath products, artisanal food and lovely hand-made children’s items.

New Photographic Art Images by EclecticDesignChoices

A couple of the new images that I took this summer really grabbed my attention and I knew I wanted to blow them up and put them on something other than just paper. I have printed a few photos to canvas previously, which has given me an opportunity to start to develop an understanding of what images are likely to look great printed on gallery wrapped canvases. One of my new dragonfly images seemed to scream, put me on canvas, so I did.

There is another substrate that I have never had my images printed on before

that I thought would be perfect for one of my new waterlily photos. I have seen some images printed on metal and I thought the reflectiveness of the material would lend itself nicely to one of these images. After working with a few of the waterlilies and their reflections I picked one for my first image to be printed on metal. I was very pleased with the results when I received it.

Both of these works will be available in the Happy Holidays Gift Store that will be a part of the Arlington Museum of Art’s Mitch Wilson Memorial Festival of Trees Exhibit from Nov. 1 – Dec. 29, 2013. I will have a couple of different sizes of matted prints on paper of these images as well. Come out and see them in person if you have the chance.
